I think we all probably own the canister set. What do you have in your canisters?
In the largest one - the Tree, I have sugar. In the second one- the Basket, I have flour. In the third one - the Vase, I have tea bags. In the fourth one - the Ohio Star, I have Splenda and flavored creamers.
I'm glad Pfaltzgraff didn't label these as Flour, Sugar, Coffee and Tea.
The largest one, The Tree, holds the green tea bags The second one, the Basket, holds white and black tea bags The third one, the Vase, holds Ginger, raspberry and lemon teas (each wrapped in separate plastic bags of course). The ssmllest one holds the stevia packs...the natural sweetner.
Due to my diabetes, I don't have sugar, flour, white, rice, wheat of any kind nor soy or very little processed foods in the house anymore. Also, no artificial sweetners in..All of these can play havoc to my diabetes. Been interesting. I'm starting to study up on teas and the benefits to health. It's interesting.
I can do this...i'm only cooking for me as I live here alone. Would be hard with a family.
Largest one has flour Next is sugar Third and fourth are various teas. For a while the third held brown sugar.
Looks like a lot of us are tea drinkers!!!
I found a great book on the benefits of tea. It also had recipes using tea to coat fish and baking recipes. I found it in Borders after I heard it mentioned on one of the morning shows. Read it at the store. Don't remember the title, unfortunately.
Luckily, I found out that a number of my food "vices" are actually good for me!
My oatmeal with cinnamon, ground almond and craisins, my black tea, my Dove dark chocolate squares are almost considered medicinal!! Who knew!!!!
Okay, I'm stretching it a bit with my Trader Joe's Kettle corn (fiber) can I forget about the sugar??? By the way, it is cheap and addictive!!!
OOPS! I feel really bad! I have both cannister sets-with and without handles-there is nothing in them except for probably some dust! I have them displayed on top of my dining room hutch and another cupboard!
Susie, how do you like the stevia? Do you use it in everything or just drinks. I've not tried that one and I think there is one that starts with a "T" also. I can't remember the name of it. I especially like Bigelow's Peach Green Tea. Very flavorful! I drink a cup or 2 of it everyday.
